"For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man; so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we could ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:14-21

Perfect Love

We seek after perfection in this world.  We want the perfect face, the perfect body, the perfect house, the perfect car, the perfect family, the perfect marriage; in our search for perfection we go to the gym, to the plastic surgeon, to the mall, from car to car, from house to house, and from  marriage to marriage.  Perfection in these areas is a moving target, an unattainable goal, because the more we try to find it the more elusive it becomes.

God's love is perfect as He is perfect.  The only true perfection we will find in this world is found in Him.  We spend so much time and money looking for perfection in ourselves and others, yet we choose not to seek after the only One who is perfect and offers us perfect love for God is love.  We can find God's perfect love in loving others.  And in finding this, we can live a life without fear.

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and every one who loves is born of God and knows God.  The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.  By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has beheld God at any time;  if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.  By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit, and we have beheld and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.  And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us.  God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.  By this, love is perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment because as He is, so also are we in this world.  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.  We love, because He first loved us.  If some one says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.  And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also."  1 John 4:7-21 (NASB)

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."  1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)

"Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs."  Psalm 10:12 (NIV)

Dear Lord,  Let us love one another as You have loved us.  Let Your perfect love cast out all our fears and our desire to find perfection in temporal things...
